You’re going to love these four coloring book activities for kids (and you) to do at home. Get in quality time with your child, entertain a sick kid, display your work, and create your own inspiration!
1. Mom and Me Coloring Time
My daughters and I love coloring. Sometimes we just want to spend time together. Coloring is one of the best activities because it’s easy even if I’m tired. Even better, coloring together sparks intense and interesting conversations. That in itself is valuable!
When the coloring book craze started, I even bought us new, harder coloring pages such as the popular Secret Garden by Johanna Basford. That was a mistake — it wasn’t as fun as the easier books because it was too tiny for my eyes and hands. At least for me. So I wanted to share our recommendations of coloring books we actually enjoy, and do together. (Keep in mind that my kids are 10 and 13.)

2. Sick Day Activity — Coloring
Just say no to screen time!
If you’re like me, you don’t want your sick kid watching TV or playing games on their devices all day. One alternative we’ve found, especially when they’re too fuzzy to read, is coloring. My oldest daughter LOVES to print out coloring book pages thematically. Her last sick day, she colored all the Greek gods and goddesses. The time before that, it was Disney characters.
In these instances, you don’t need coloring books — just Google “free printable coloring book pages” and the topic you want.
Stick the pages on a clip board and you’re ready to go.
3. Wall Art Coloring Pages
Take your finished coloring pages, put them in a lovely frame, and display!
4. DIY Coloring Pages
Use a pen or permanent marker to draw your own coloring pages. We like lettering favorite quotes or drawing zentangles.
