American Girl recently launched WellieWishers, early chapter books, and a line of adorable 14 1/2-inch dolls (retail $60) all featuring wellies (rain boots.)

My kids and I think the wellie boots are super cute — as are the dolls themselves. (Which, of course, you can order to own and wear yourself.)

The WellieWishers chapter books are lovely — sweet, nature- and friendship-oriented.

WellieWishers Easy Chapter Books & Dolls from American Girl

The books (I’ve read two so far) are the easy-to-read chapter book adventures about the WellieWisher friends and take place in an enchanted neighborhood garden. They include themes of helping a girl to learn how to “stand in another person’s wellies” as well as empathy, kindness, and compassion.

I really love the full-color illustrations from Thu Thai of the dolls and their adventures.

Just as the dolls are smaller than the original American Girl dolls, the books are easier than the other American Girl chapter books. These would best for 6-, 7-, or 8- year olds. (And what a great gift!) I know your girls will love playing with these dolls and reading these books!
