Today’s Free eBooks for Kids

Hi! I’m Bethany from the kid lit and play blog No Twiddle Twaddle. Imagination Soup is one of my favorite blogs, so I am thrilled that Melissa has invited me to share my list of free kids’ eBooks with you today.
Many people don’t realize that you can download hundreds of free children’s eBooks a week through the Amazon store. With the free Kindle app, you can then read these books on most electronic devices including iPads. You can store books and read them through your Amazon Cloud Reader even if you do not have an e-reader.
I read as many of these free children’s books as I can, exclude books with poor formatting and grammar, and publish almost daily lists of the best free children’s eBooks available that day.
Reminder: The following books will only be free for a short period of time. Be sure to “purchase” the books today and check the price before purchasing.
Both Jackson’s Plan and Gumbo Goes Downtown are picture books in a series of animal themed character building books for children. This series stands out for its brightly colored watercolor paintings and engaging stories.
You may find that the text is too small to read comfortably, but these books have a feature enabled that allows you to double tap the text to enlarge a paragraph at a time. You can then tap the sides of the screen just as you would to turn a page to read through the book.
I typically see two books from this series available at some point each week.
Due to time constraints I sometimes have difficulty knowing which novels to recommend, so I always am happy to see old reprints or popular authors being promoted for free.
Alan Davidson wrote a number of popular children’s novels several decades ago. While I have not read Queen Rider (yet), I have read The Bewitching of Alison Allbright which is considered a modern classic. His books frequently appear on my list, and I would recommend them for middle graders through adults.
Best-selling author Douglas E. Richards is promoting the first book in his series The Prometheus Project for free. While I haven’t personally read Richards’ books, his sci-fi novels certainly look worth reading.
You can find these free children’s books plus more via my Listamania list on Amazon:
Note: I typically don’t write a description for the novels on my list, but I usually read the first couple of pages to weed out any poorly written books. I also glance through reviews and try to list only books that have legitimate reviews that weren’t written by the author or the author’s friends.
Bethany loves reading and playing with her kids. If you enjoyed today’s list, be sure to check out her free kids’ eBook lists and picture book reviews on No Twiddle Twaddle. You can also find her on Facebook.

What a wonderful list!
Thank you for sharing this great (free!) list!
