Sometimes we just need fresh snack ideas — with pictures! So here are pictures and ideas for healthy after school snacks that my kids enjoy. I hope yours will, too.
Healthy After-School Snacks
Ritz Cracker Sandwiches
Are your kids sick of sandwiches but don’t always get much protein in their diet? Mine, too. But they do love cracker sandwiches – cheese, organic lunch meat, and whole wheat Ritz crackers.
Apple Sandwiches
Cut an apple in slices horizontally. Use the slices as sandwich ends and fill with nut butter, Nutella, and or Raisens.
DIY Trail Mix
You know those bulk bins at your grocery store? Fill some bags of anything — maybe nuts, granola, and something sweet. Mix at home and store in an airtight container.
Chips and Hummus
We love snacking on black corn tortilla chips and hummus.
Veggies and Ranch Dressing
Baby carrots dipped in Ranch dressing make a tasty and healthy snack.
Fruit and Cheese Kabobs
Get out your cute toothpicks, fruit, and cheese cubes. Have your kids make their own kabobs.
Fiber One Bars
I don’t know about you but my kids need more fiber in their diets. Sometimes they’ll snack on Fiber One Bars – a good on-the-go snack.
Quesadilla
Tortilla and cheese deliciousness!
Cheese Toast
This is a great snack (and easier than a grilled cheese sandwich.) Add a slice of cheese to your whole wheat bread and toast it.
Graham Crackers and Milk
Just like what it sounds . . . for extra fun dip your graham crackers in the milk.
And to Drink?
Vita Coco Kids Coconut Water
These fruit-flavored coconut waters contain less sugar than most juices, electrolytes, potassium, and vitamin C plus have no high fructose corn syrup or artificial ingredients. Talk about meeting my checklist of requirements for healthy snacks when my kids don’t want water. Flavors: Paradise Punch, Very Cherry Beach, and Apple Island.
