Delightful Interactive Books for Babies, Toddlers, and Preschoolers
Give and Take by Lucie Felix
This is a very heavy board book with simple text with action words. Readers remove and place sturdy cardboard shapes on the pages directing so. Give / Take. Find / Hide. Open / Close. I’m concerned about the weight of this book for young readers but like the fine motor skill building and interactive quality.
Peekaboo Pals 123 A Gareth Lucas Lift-the-Flap Book
It’s the Animal Antics race. Lift the flaps to count the animals as they race in numbered groups starting with 1 polar bear on a pogo stick to twenty turtles on a train, then 30, 40, 50 and 100. 100 rabbits on a rocket wins the race. Sturdy flaps and reinforced pages.
Where’s the Ladybug? by Ingela P. Arrhenius LIFT THE FLAP
OOOH, I adore this lift-the-felt-flap book! Babies and toddlers will enjoy finding the bugs under leaves, flowers, and rocks in this brightly colored board book. Guess who you’ll find at the end? You in the mirror!
Where’s the Giraffe? by Ingela P. Arrhenius LIFT THE FLAP
Just like the Where’s the Ladybug book, this lift the felt flap book will have you searching for animals with the same fun mirror surprise at the end.
All My Treasures A Book of Joy by Jo Witek, illustrated by Christine Roussey
When her grandma gives her a special treasure box, this little girl wants to find the perfect things to put inside. Whimsical illustrations and flaps to lift on each page show everything she considers — rainy days, bubbles, giggles, . . . all the things that fill her with joy. Lovely and inspirational. I think you’ll want to make your own box of joy after reading this.
Who What Where? by Olivier Tallec
Learn carefully at the details. Use the illustrations to answer the questions. Questions such as, “Who left a jacket at home?” and “Who forgot shoes?” invite readers to observe the details. Shaped long and wide, this interactive book is a fun, engaging read.
Open Up, Please! by Silvia Borando, illustrated by Lorenzo Clerici LIFT THE FLAP
Gross or funny, you decide. After a book of opening up the flaps to free the creatures in cages, this story ends with a large green snake eating them all.
Through the Forest by Steffie Brocoli and Catherine Bidet
Mother Forest narrates this forest choose-your-own adventure story. She describes the scenes and gives you choices and their corresponding page numbers. You’ll love the leafy tab detail on the pages showing the page numbers for easy turning.
