Our Family Loved This Addition Card Game

Our entire family of four gives two thumbs up each (that makes 8!) for the new addition card game Check the Fridge! A Shameless Game of Bluffing from MelonRind, the game company that made the super fun money game, Clumsy Thief. (And thank you to MelonRind for this review copy.)
We’re pretty picky about which games stay in the game night rotation. Check the Fridge is a win for us. We loved it because it got us laughing and we practiced our ninja-like addition math skills.
(Also, I hope a fun game about vegetables that my kids don’t always like to eat will increase their enthusiasm for radishes, cauliflower, eggplant, carrots and peas… One can dream, right?)
How to Play Check the Fridge
The goal is to collect food cards sets that add to 25.
Each player gets 5 cards to start. Player 1 announces what kind of vegetable card he or she needs. The other players either give all their cards of that vegetable OR pretend they’re giving the cards. Player 1 then must choose what person to believe then adds those cards to his or her hand.
Once a player has a set that adds up to 25, they put the set down on the table. Each set is one point.
Kids practice making different combinations of cards that add up to make 25. The numbers on the cards give lots of opportunity for addition.
Don’t forget that good bluffing is involved. too. Not only are you bluffing having (or not having) the veggie cards but there are three nasty stinky cheese cards you don’t want to get stuck with at the end. Bluff well and you’ll get rid of the stinky cheese card(s) in no time.
If your cards are played in a set or picked by another player, you must draw so you have five cards in your hand.
Check the Fridge is for 3 – 6 players ages 8 and up. It’s available on Amazon for $13.99. Game play lasts around 15 minutes.
You’re going to love this game!
