Ready for Maki Stack, a new Blue Orange game with totally cute wooden sushi pieces? Be the quickest to build your stack to win the round. My daughter and I have been playing this game before bedtime and love it.
Maki Stack Dexterity and Visual Discrimination Game
This game sneaks in the valuable skills of dexterity and visual discrimination.
Play with 2 or 4 players. If you play with 4 players, one person wears a blindfold and their partner communicates how to build the stack correctly. Which I think is great for practicing clear communication!
To play each round, you’ll flip over a card then race to build a matching stack using the pieces of sushi, soy sauce, and mat. But be careful — sometimes you use the mat, and sometimes you don’t. Sometimes pieces are flipped. You must match the card exactly. If you do, and you’re the fastest, you win the card.
Even trickier, you can only use ONE finger from each hand to manipulate the objects. Talk about great fine motor skill practice! It’s kind of hard for us old people, too.
The winner of the game is the first person to get six cards.
We like that it takes about 10 – 15 minutes and that it makes us laugh. Because the pieces topple over. And sometimes we think we’ve built the stack correctly but haven’t. HAHA.
Maki Stack sells for $24.15 on Amazon. It’s a fantastic option for 2018 gift buying!
