You are going to LOVE this hilarious, family-friendly card game called Utter Nonsense Family Edition: The Hilarious Accent Game. I was sent a review copy and my kids couldn’t wait to try it out.
It didn’t disappoint.
We are now addicted to Utter Nonsense! and think you’ll love it, too.
The game, for ages 8 and up and up to 20 players, includes 50 accent cards and 450 phrase cards. Basically, you pick an accent card (think pirate, side mouth talker, vampire, Italian, stuffy nose, Valley Girl, or Chewbacca) and read one of your phrase cards in that accent.
You’ll have a handful of phrase cards like “No Taylor, I cannot just shake it off” or “You will play Capture the Flay and you will like it” or “An apple a day costs $7 at Whole Foods”.
As you get the hang of the game, you’ll try to combine the accent with a phrase in your hand that fits best for the accent.
Players each read the phrase they’ve chosen in their best accent. You will laugh! A lot.
Another player is the judge who determines the winner of the round and the accent card. The game is done (theoretically) when someone wins 5 accent cards. We played to 10 cards.
For those of you who get my newsletters, you’ll know that my kids have been really sick with mold toxicity, especially my 12-year old. I was THRILLED that this game got her off the couch and interacting with the family. That speaks volumes for the fun.
And guess what? The humor is totally appropriate for kids! (There is a naughty version for adults so be aware of the title — you want to buy the Family Edition.)
We’re loving this game so much — it’s a fun (and hilarious) way to spend an evening with your family and friends.
Do you think your family would enjoy Utter Nonsense Family Edition, too?
