You’re going to love these adorable new board books out in 2024!
Two publishers have multiple books on my list with amazing choices: Hello! Lucky (Abrams) and Sourcebooks Explore.
I like Sourcebooks Explore Learn-to-Talk books written by a speech-language pathologist because they’re educational. The Hello! Lucky books are playful, fun, and interesting visually.
All of these board books would make great gifts and read alouds for babies and toddlers.
Adorable New Board Books, 2024
A Seed Will Grow written by Sabrina Moyle, illustrated by Eunice Moyle
Bright colors with lift the flap and pull the tabs will appeal to toddlers as they learn about seeds and plants. Sprinkle water, add some sun, watch the shoots and roots grow, and watch the pollinator butterflies and bees. Seeds feed animals and grow into other trees.
My Mom Is Magical! written by Sabrina Moyle, illustrated by Eunice Moyle
I’m not usually a big fan of mom books but this one mom tribute that I can love. Filled with hyberbole and playfulness, moms are sillier than a band of bananas, braver than a deep-sea explorers, and cooler than a disco rockstar.
My Dad is Amazing! written by Sabrina Moyle, illustrated by Eunice Moyle
What a fun book! This would make a great gift for dad anytime of year or for Father’s Day. “My dad is cooler than a million popsicles!…Sweeter than a pile of pancakes!…Funnier than a bunch of pancakes.”
Who’s the Boss? written and illustrated by Emile Jadout
The animals argue about who is the boss. One by one they announce why they are the boss. The giraffe is the tallest, the elephant is the strongest, and so forth. But then, the real boss comes along—a baby playing with animal finger puppets. How clever is that?
Animals Brag About Their Bottoms written and illustrated by Maki Saito
Animals like bunnies, zebras, and hippos talk about their butts — big, fluffy, stripes, and heart-shaped. Every animal is proud of their bottom.
My Amazing Day a Celebration of Wonder & Gratitude written by Karin Fischer-Golton, photographs by Lori A. Cheung
Simple text with photographs of kids narrating a day in the life — eating a banana, sitting with a furry friend, swinging on swings, cloud watching, and more. Kids love seeing other children in books so this is sure to be a read aloud favorite.
My First Learn-to-Talk Book written by Stephanie Cohen
Photos of children and rhyming text highlight explanatory sounds expressing the emotions of kids. Kids might say say like mmmm, hmmm, aaah, waaah, wow, ow! Rhyming and clever. The companion title is My First Learn to Talk Book: Things that Go.
I Can Say Mama Book written by Stephanie Cohen
I love the real photographs of children plus the simple command that includes mama. “Hi, mama! // Peek-a-book, Mama! // More, Mama! // Done, Mama.” Another great title in this series is The I Can Say Dada Book.
Lionel is Just Like Dad written and illustrated by Eric Veille
So funny! Lionel copies everything Dad does — including throwing things and yellowing but also bouncing back and being happy.
Baby Red Panda Finger Puppet Book illustrated by Yu-Hsuan Huang
Put your finger into the panda puppet and wiggle along as the panda explores and plays!
Countdown to School written by Greg Paprocki
Count down from ten days until school begins. In each retro illustration, see if you can find the school items like pencils, balls, scissors, and so forth. Adorable!
