Teen Writers Guided Prompts

Image and Imagination: Ideas and Inspiration for Teen Writers by Nick Healy and Kristen McCurry captivated me at first glance. The book is filled with gorgeous photographs, beautiful design, and interesting writing prompts. What’s more, I think it can be used for writers of all ages, not just teens.
The authors (and the title) suggest this book is only for teens but I disagree. Image and Imagination can used with writers of all ages.
One thing I struggle with, and I know you do as well, is how to get my kids writing at home!! — especially over the long vacation summer months.
Wouldn’t this book be a great way to solve that and inspire writing at home?
I asked my kids to pick a few pages. Below you can see that my youngest clearly was annoyed and didn’t think she needed to try hard . . . hmmm.
Aren’t the photos evocative?
Sometimes writers (myself included) don’t care for writing prompts. But the reality is, prompts can be a great way to keep up your writing chops, spark new writing ideas, and reflect on your life.
