If you haven’t tried smoothie recipes with your kids, start today with a new cookbook called Kid Smoothies: Smoothie Recipes Kids Will Love to Make from Erin Fletter, the co-founder of Sticky Fingers Cooking. Smoothies are delicious and nutritious — and it’s easy to sneak in some healthy ingredients that kids might normally not eat otherwise.

I’m excited to partner with Erin Fletter, the author of Kid Smoothies, to bring you this information.

Kids (and adults like me) like to drink our veggies in a smoothie because it’s yummy, easy, and quick! (And it’s especially nice for kids who are reluctant veggie eaters.)

What’s more, I love that Kid Smoothies is a fun way to introduce kitchen skills to my children so they can grow in their self-sufficiency in the kitchen, as well as learn more about the importance of healthy eating.

This is why Kid Smoothies will be a helpful addition to your family’s cookbooks and meal planning. You get 40 creative smoothie recipes that kids can help to make that offer nutrition, good flavors, and variety. I love the variety — because I usually get stuck in a rut with one or two recipes, don’t you?

The Kid Smoothies cookbook starts with the basics– blender basics, kitchen safety, kitchen basics–as well as food prep information. Learn about washing your fruits and veggies, measuring, peeling, cutting, freezing, and storing.

But what if your child has allergies like my daughter (and me)?

A page of substitutions can help remind you how to adapt any of the recipes to your child’s needs. For example, you can use tofu to replace avocado or flax seeds for sesame seeds, and so forth.

Crack open this cookbook to find 40 smoothie recipes with beautiful full-color photography, easy-to-follow recipes with step-by-step directions, and information like the prep time, yield, allergy information, and any tips you may need. No cooking is required, making this a perfect first cookbook for kids and families.

Use the helpful labels on the smoothie recipe pages to decide what smoothie to make first.

  • 5 INGREDIENT means the recipe has 5 or fewer ingredients.
  • DAIRY-FREE, GLUTEN-FREE, AND NUT-FREE labels help you find the right allergy-friendly recipe.
  • FREEZER FRIENDLY shows the best recipes for freezing in ice cube trays.

In the recipe above, Enchanted Blackberry Fairy Frostie, you can see that it’s GLUTEN-FREE! If you’re also dairy-free like us, it’s easy to substitute a DF milk that works for you, such as oat milk, coconut milk, rice milk, or nut milk. For yogurt, we use unflavored coconut yogurt.

(And how delicious does that smoothie look, right?!)

Pick your smoothie and gather the ingredients. We use a Vitamix blender — it’s our favorite because it’s got a robust motor that will mix anything –and it lasts forever.

I looked over the smoothie recipes to find one my kids would like and started with the Dragon’s Lair Cocoa smoothie with dates, a banana, half an avocado, milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, and ice cubes. My oldest loves everything chocolate!

Then, because I have a darling 3-year-old neighbor who wanted to try the smoothies, too, I picked Pineapple Paradise for her. (I would help older children choose for themselves.)

Let the kids help you measure the ingredients and get them into the blender.

Then watch the magic happen! BLENDING is fun!

When the drink is blended to your satisfaction, pour it into your favorite cup and serve.

Letting your child pour things into other things is an important skill, too! Have you seen that influencer who helps his siblings pour things — it’s hilarious!

Drink and enjoy!

What other ingredients and flavors will you find in this cookbook?

You’ll use ingredients like orange juice, coconut milk, frozen fruit of all kinds like mango and pineapple, fresh fruit like peaches and bananas, dates, chia seeds, peanut butter, honey, kale, spinach, vanilla extract, pumpkin puree, zucchini, beets, and instant oats.

So, if you’re looking to give your children kitchen skills and nutritious recipes that work for healthy breakfasts or snacks, I highly recommend investing in Kid Smoothies. It will be your next favorite cookbook!
